About The Day The Earth Stood Still

  • The 2008 film is a remake of a 1951 film of the same name.

    • Plot

    Without warning a giant white globe falls to earth, and experts are rushed to inspect it. Out of the orb however, comes a humanoid figure; in fact an alien, Klaatu who has taken our form. He has come to attempt to save the planet; yet the only way he can save the planet is by destroying those that inhabit it, due to their wasteful and damaging habits. It is up to a mother and a young boy to try and convince him that humans are a race worth saving…

    Opinion

    Whilst a film that you can easily sit and enjoy, it really does not grab you in the slightest. There is frequently periods of very little plot progression, and all in all it just seems a bit dull! I felt for the entire film that something "big" was about to happen, and even when we did reach the eventual climax, and end of the film, I was left thinking…is that it? Average at best.
